The "lit" up has a double meaning here, either lit up with the lights or lit up on fire.
Either way, it leaves us to our imaginations.

WOW. I did not think of the fired up option. But there was a case around here decades ago where there was a Christmas party at some big hall. Some idiot decided it would be fun light up a match near the tree. Big fire, lots of panic, many dead. Idiot anded up in jail.
