Intermittent Amnesia

Got a roof over my head
Got clothes on my back
Got shoes on my feet
And food I don't lack

Don't drive a Lac
Or any luxury car
But I get to and fro
No matter short or far

I'm a far cry from wealthy
Never owned a silver spoon
Got my fair share of struggles
Meeting life at high noon

In front of its saloon
Whose got the quickest draw?
I've sustained many war wounds
Some are healed; some still raw

I draw short straws at times
But I try not to complain
Life can be a bad bitch
And that bitch is very vain

Pain that she inflicts runs deep
Need a positive mindset
This poem's a reminder
To help me never forget
