Life Sacrosanct
buried in a graveyard of secrets
for a moment, time stood still
we played among the bones
of heavy decisions made lightly
and with unease -
they weigh me to this tomb
I was never really sure, until you.
now wraiths of regret shake my body
until my teeth chatter this confession,
biting my tongue, and yet these words
still bleed all over an empty page;
time was not content to idle
for nearly long enough
We once lived for you, for me, for us.
and now the next life will have to wait -
even if we don’t, or can’t
hope still dies a slow death, and I
can still feel it’s warm breath
whispering softly in my ears
for a moment, time stood still
we played among the bones
of heavy decisions made lightly
and with unease -
they weigh me to this tomb
I was never really sure, until you.
now wraiths of regret shake my body
until my teeth chatter this confession,
biting my tongue, and yet these words
still bleed all over an empty page;
time was not content to idle
for nearly long enough
We once lived for you, for me, for us.
and now the next life will have to wait -
even if we don’t, or can’t
hope still dies a slow death, and I
can still feel it’s warm breath
whispering softly in my ears
