Friends

You are our albatross, nothing but a curse
The best part was flushed, we got the after birth
To look at you I'm filled with scorn
My life ended the day you was born

I've heard you both drunk and sober
I've seen you both go solar
I protected you everytime that they came through
Each time they asked I said it wasn't you

But I was never tucked in
So you don't know this is the end
A very short life is coming to an end
When all I needed was a friend

If I could've had just a little of the time you wasted
Maybe spent a little time face to face
Maybe tossing a ball, we've never done that
I could look high and low for where you hid at

How about a hug, followed by a kiss
I'm willing to listen to opportunities you missed
I didn't mind being your friend, maybe even a pet
For a simple hello, your slippers were fetched

Can I sit over there next to you
To feel your warmth seeping through
I've said it before and I swear never again
But just once more I needed a friend
