Image for the poem …and so, we dance

…and so, we dance

Misunderstandings
move with swift feet
when mood (or stress)
strikes up the band,
musicians at the ready
awaiting their cue

we sway anxiously
under the glaring light
of too many wrongs and
not enough rights;
our eyes are so cloudy,
yet we glide along
to these familiar notes

Old Bitterness and
New Resentments,
our greatest hits play on -
crashing cymbals
sound against the silence
…and so, we dance
