Yes! The poem as being...vulnerable, anxious, demonstrative. Excellent!

Thank you for reading and finding a little something within....
It's always sad to see people that I have come to know and fully adore via their work, leave DU.
I know everyone has their own very justifiable reasons, but hopefully it's only for a little bit and not forever; that we lose such warmth and true talent.
In gratitude,
-B

B,
See? Now you've made me blush! :-) Thanks for your compliments! DUP "turns over" (substantially) every 8 months or so...I'll be in/out till then. My Vietnam diary is due in less than 6 months,; I need to satisfy my Editor with complete copy by September.
I get pitifully few comments on my submits here now...I appreciate yours very much! -Ted

Not to burst your bubble.. (as these emotions do apply to anyone who's decided to leave DU on a lark for whatever feels right you them) ... but this was a poem for a friend that I just realized a few days ago had deactivated....I had hoped it was just for a few days but it seems that's not going to be the case.
This was my way of saying thank you.
Like I said though, it applies to all of those who've left.... because I believe poems are subjective...
Thank you for being kind... I appreciate the follow up.

Maybe your friend will return...if not, you've made new friends and, no doubt, will continue to do so! The site has changed over the past two years; it's more XXX now...and some of the xxx is more style than substance. You are one of a few with range beyond just the hyper-erotic...that's talent!

I had left for about 6 years. There had been so much strife and struggle I just moved on.
Then, when it all settled down....so.

See, I would be gutted if you left! .... and it's so great that you found your way back..
It's the way life is, though... sometimes you have absolutely no idea that this one particular moment with someone might be your very last with them.
A reminder to make it all count; like you always put out there— say what you want and what you mean! Don't waste time, it's precious.

Re: Re. A sort of lament for the missing (sending my love)
There's a lot that seems to be more porn than poetry.... yet it's what gets the reads, likes and comments; so the art of poetry becomes a popularity contest by default. Style over substance because sex will always sell, especially here.
I am all for erotica; good erotica that purposely leaves something to the imagination or that comes from someone's deepest catacombs of honest truth.... It should ache so good.
Just my opinion.
I am beyond tired and numbed to the blatant porn stuff. I find it does nothing to ignite me.... perhaps I've outgrown it... I'm not sure... lol. ...
I don't think I have a bigger range just a different mindset these days. I think everyone changes, so hopefully DUP will eventually, too.
Time will tell.
Thx -

incoherent
scattered

deepen
in the

bereft

no longer
flow
missing
pieces of
connection
the sense
of being
gone
a
blank
page
lonely
waiting
wishing
for
something

You're a poet, with these comments Birchel!! What a lovely poetic phrase... I am digging glass reference completely! Thank you, kindly.
You've made quite a moving impact and I'm so delighted you enjoyed reading and find the best things within my poem.
It's a pleasure, poet!
Take care of yourself.

Awww... super duper hugs (((hugs)))
These kind words are enough to get me teary!
Thank you for being you, my dear...
*heart eyes*
It's the unfortunate nature of the beast here on DU that people come and go on a whim. There will always be elements on social media that are only amount being divisive and chasing people away for their own hateful BS reasons or the flip side, people soo so sensitive that those actions or similar, cause them to throw in the towel and leave. Life and people are complex.... it's sincerely, a crap shoot what the reasonings might be.
I just send out hope into the universe that eventually they will return and I keep the candle burning.
Much love for your understanding.

I like the use of full stops in the middle verse. It creates a perfect lull in the onrush of language, driving the point home.

I lost many good friends and people I looked up to in my years being here. But that's the internet game sometimes. We get moments with wonderful people and then it goes. I guess that's one reason I've become more closed off through the years. Saves from the hurt, as strange as that sounds.
Wonderful ink, friend 😁

I know it's the nature of the beast... I do. It's just so sad when I felt like I made a new friendship connection with someone cool, considerate, super talented and so amazingly giving and helpful— ....then it's gone. I don't lay any blame on them for doing what they needed to do, not ever! it's just my selfish desire to have them stay..lol..
I will definitely continue to hope for their return.... we're all made better for it.
Saving yourself the hurt doesn't sound strange to me at all, I completely understand! I didn't expect to feel this loss like I did... I think some folks just get under our skin in a good way, affecting us more than we think!!
Thanks for the understanding and the ear, DC.
It's always so appreciated!

It's a thoughtful spill, when we're a little sad for those we admire (both in real life and hear in DUP). You're a gentle kind soul for sharing this.
Amazing work.

Sorrow wrote in filigree eloquence that sings a dirge to me in notes of dark beauty. Sad but oh so beautiful. You write darkness with a pen that knows no limits. And I am blessed to read this artfully crafted poem you've conceived.
