I read the news
and wonder why
the fuck I even bothered
when there is nothing good
hidden in the words
and all the articles
set my anxiety into overdrive
I tried only looking
at good news
but found it too
happily pretentious
and unrelateable
I want to live in a world
where everything
in the news doesn't feel like
an impending apocalypse
is waiting just around the corner
Wars, dementia studies
today eggs will kill you
tomorrow they won't
everything will give you cancer
No wonder we're afraid
when we have nothing real
and present to hold onto
in a time where everything
seems to be going wrong

Lol, that made me laugh. The older I get the less I follow Hollywood drama, though social media sometimes feels like the new Hollywood.

here in America people seem to eat it up the things they talk about are horrific

If notoriety brings fame, people will do stupid things to get their names in the headlines. I know there's a lot of very understandable fear in the US right now.
I would prefer to read news of our politicians making positive changes in our countries, but unfortunately that's not the reality of it, and instead we're left with horrific things we don't know how to deal with.

Im a criminal buff. I love Oxygen and ID channels. haha fuck main stream media. Its all bullshit. I know, because my anxiety left me crippled when I watched the news. so I made a change. If bad shits coming, we will know...theyll sound the sirens....<3

Mainstream media seems to thrive off unnecessary controversy, and I agree, if there is anything important to know, we'll hear about it.

Totally. I was a slave to the news a while ago. Not anymore. I turned it off. I stated watching cheesy hallmark. I know, I know! It worked. LOL

i feel this in my bones. i'm at a constant war with myself: i want to be informed of what is happening in the world vs. putting my head in the sand and not worrying about it one bit. all the news makes me anxious and the 'good news' is all...sickeningly sweet. you did the topic justice with this one.
