Granite Garden
Hear it in my soil
Hear it from my bed tomb
Bass cobwebs in tune
Playing chords for you
Notes written in a book
Music of my milestones
Never feeling alone
I’m the seeds of my tomb
Fixing to bloom
Words of a verse
Sung so softly
Ghost of addiction
In the Soundgarden
My blood's in the sun
In the Soundgarden
My song's in the air
But In the Granite Garden
I'm everywhere
Hear it from my bed tomb
Bass cobwebs in tune
Playing chords for you
Notes written in a book
Music of my milestones
Never feeling alone
I’m the seeds of my tomb
Fixing to bloom
Words of a verse
Sung so softly
Ghost of addiction
In the Soundgarden
My blood's in the sun
In the Soundgarden
My song's in the air
But In the Granite Garden
I'm everywhere
Author's Note
Listening to the song by Audioslave - Like a Stone
I wrote a whole project to this song a few years back. For some
reason it just kept feeding me pages.:)
I also thought about all the musicians that have passed away and how
their music still goes on - moving people - and inspiring.
Just tragic but in a way amazing at the same time.

Granite Garden... Real cool A...
You really created such an apropos texture
in this piece...
Very cool internal rhyme/slant rhyme...
Worked so well... Creating thought provoking movement
Music is such a powerful medium
with such a spectrum of applications...
Truly the soundtrack of our lives... Which you capture so well
I feel like the Granite Garden is a dual meaning...
This being:
The graveyard... But also monuments of moments...
A sort of universal graveyard... (writing prompt)
Which really fits so well with this piece,
as it parallels the idea of art transcending the grave...
Thereby transforming the world... Via the grave
Perhaps also awakening the recognition of graves in different forms...
Different forms of death...
This really made me think A...
Oh... I am thinking of doing a whole project on "The Downward Spiral" by NIN...
So cool... To expand the medium of music
One of my favorite movies is "Across the Universe"... Based on the music of The Beatles...

Hey Cipher:)
So glad you enjoyed this. This song popped up on my Pandora
and I have always felt such a connection to it. Especially the verse about being lost in a book of death. I was doing a project a few years
back and it just ignited my mind - since at the time - I was working on an actual writing project. So Just kept it on loop and finished!!
Musicians in my opinion do transcend the grave to me. I get inspired by a lot of things. Phrases, movies, history - but nothing is quite the same as music when it comes to my writing.
Thanks for the RL and always a pleasure to hear from
ya amigo:)
Your going to kill it with
Downward Spiral!! I have no doubt!!
Later Killogator heheheh

Dear A,
This poem had me wandering the confines of my scattered mind like a maze of doors. I’d open one to see if it was the way out and Janis Joplin was there. Another and there sat Amy Winehouse. But each door was part of a community garden. I think I created my own metaphor, we’re never alone but we can be when we want to be. I’m always fascinated by music inspired poems. Mine always tend to be anger fueled. Excellent piece. H🌷

Hi H!!
What a great comment. I love where you went with this comment.
Maze of doors and who is behind them. Too cool. I actually could
see all the musicians you listed in my mind. Just playing away like
a normal day and also at peace in the community garden.
Totally awesome comment you left me with today. This made me smile.
So glad you stopped by today:)
Thanks for the RL too!!!

*That's one of my all time favorite songs. Because of course it is. It's Chris Cornell singing it, and it's the kind of song that poets dream through while listening.
Therefore it is brilliant for its art and artist singing it.
And now you add your poetic blessing to it. I'm quite sure that Chris would be pleased, as we are. What an awesome tribute you did.

Hey Styx!!
How's it going amigo:)
Of course it is one of your favorite songs.
You're super cool like me. heheh
Boy did I ever dream to this song. Also to "I am the highway"
Another great one by Chris Cornell. I was going to originally
call this Sound Garden but changed it last minute to Granite Garden. There is a granite place down the street of my moms house and it just popped in my mind while writing so I went
with that instead.
Thanks for stopping by and the RL!!

"I am the highway" is just as incredible. And to me, the best two songs of his career.
When he, and Chester Bennington, died, I was floored. Completely floored. Because I felt that they both were getting only better in the later stages of their careers. Most people don't know them by their "ballads". But I do. That's where their hearts resided.
Look up Chester Bennington's duo (video) with Motley Crue, doing "Home Sweet Home". It was done during one of the benefits for the New Orleans hurricane recovery.
Basically, when it starts, Chester turns to Vince and says "hold my beer, while I own your song". Okay i made that up. But lordy, he owned it.
As for the title,
Changing it to granite gives it a more personal touch, exclusive to you, while joining with them. You have your own identity that way. So it was a great choice.
Because you're smart that way. Intuitive.
Look up that video.

"I’m the seeds of my tomb" what a great line. I like your inspiration for this piece, I hadn't heard the song in so long.

Hi LJ
One of my all time favorite songs. The lyrics are great and his voice
is just amazing. The tone of it just matched everything. Like a whole
other instrument that he can only play.
So glad you stopped by and
left me comment:)

You always have such amazing titles that pull me in. Such a lovely way to refer to a graveyard and I love how you composed such beautiful music with your words. The ending lines are so powerful, just perfect. You have a unique style that I find so wonderful and engaging Adelphina. You have brought back many memories I have spending time in a graveyard that I used to live across from in the UK where I lived during some of the time I was growing up. I found it such a beautiful and peaceful place, got into a lot of trouble there too. :p Loved this!

Hey Kristina:)
Thank you!!! Was just commenting away on site listening to my Pandora and that song came on. Got that buzz and started to write.
I love Chris Cornell's voice. One of those voices that transcends the grave.
You get in trouble - I do not believe - you are an angel:)
Anyway - it's okay to shake things up at a graveyard. You get
massive cool points from me on that. hahahhah!!
Thanks for the RL and stopping by with your lovely self:)

Hahah!
Hello Ethan,
Yes - Audioslave is amazing. But I gotta say I also love Chris Cornell's words. So original. Like a Stone has amazing lyrics in it. As all of his work. Love all the metaphors that are relatable to everyone. So sad all the great ones leave far too soon.
So happy you enjoyed:)
Thanks for checking this out and the RL!!!
later gator!!!
