An enriched bountiful heart
With the power of wealth
On a zenith pilgrimage
Of the golden age of ages
Leaving decadence footprints
Woven in maps of opulence
Lavishing the poor
Converting the whores
Brocades draped over slaves
An entourage of silk brigades
A journey of sand miles
Lead by gold dust camels
To an enlightened path
Guided by jeweled staffs
Chronicled of his reign
Compassion without chains

Author's Note
I had a conversation about Mansa. I did some research
and was intrigued he was considered one of the richest people on earth. Even wrecked some economies back in the day with his gift giving on his pilgrimage to Mecca. Just wanted to write something different and a little edgy.
He was also called Father of Hope

Hello Lovely Friend
I love poetry, that makes me go off and learn something new. This poem did that. I went off to research the traveling, philanthropist, king and his golden riches. It brings to mind a wonderful word in my culture "Ubuntu" which means "a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity".
Your poem is beautifully written and a lovely tribute. The chosen form is perfect for this too, it holds a readers eye.

Thank you so much for this comment. I was actually referring to
I_IS_Me's avatar. I asked him if it was Jesus or Dracula? So far off base. LOL . He said it was a man named Mansa and gave me some backstory and I felt that spark my friend. Had to write about him.
I've heard of the pilgrimage to Mecca but did not know about Mansa.
Thought about all the price hikes going on right now.
I sure could use him right now with all the gas going up. LOL
Just give me one camel full of gold and I will be set.

I read how when people would visit him
he would send them away with their camels weighed down in gold...
Just for the hell of it... Basically. :p
No... It was so they could deliver the message to the ends of the Earth... :)))

hahah. Yes. Mr. Mansa was quite the generous man. I had never heard of him. Saw his avatar and was intrigued. Read about all of his glam. heheh Just giving it away like here you go - vaya con dios.
And I thought about inflation.
What we are heading towards right now
and how it kinda relates to modern times in a way. Cash isn't gold but it felt a bit relatable to where I am right now. Moving to Timbuktu and having to pay so much for gas just to get to work!!! hahah. I so could use a gold dust camel right now. LOL

Man I gotta be honest. Was a little nervous posting this. I'm
from Catholic origins so this was a little out of my religion spectrum.
I so did not want to offend anyone that practices the Islamic faith.
I feel whatever feeds you spiritually is what you should practice.
I am not a religion snob. LOL
