When those anxious moments have you on the verge of hyperventilating and you require something like a bag to breathe into.  I've found when she feels a bit overwhelmed a tight hug, think of a fighter pilots pressure suit, helps keep the breathing normal and blood where it is supposed to stay (like a pressure suit prevents the g-forces from pulling blood from your head). It is a wonderful feeling, with our contact, sensing the anxiety melt away from her.

Your poem captures the anxious moments, and labored breathing that overwhelms. And in your astute way have discovered the beach as an organic natural remedy, non-pill popping.

Ohh Leo.... You really get to the heart of it in such a distinctively lovely way while being terrifically spot on!! I'll definitely take hugs anytime, especially from a huggable lion 🦁 like yourself!! 🤗🤗🤗... I believe that's the only other natural 'antidote' to the pains of anxiety that beats the welcomed soothe the seaside offers....  

You've uncovered the secret!! I'll take 5-6 hugs three x's a day until no longer needed, please !

I love poetry that personifies the natural. I'm even more grateful for those that don't make it all pretty. I think you've captured the anxiety perfectly in this. That feeling of the world crashing... then countering it with the meditating calmness.. I can't think of a better choice for the metaphor.

I too, completely concur and wholly appreciate the times when a poem is not so ceremoniously adorned with every pretty little bow and ribbon... Lol.... Some pieces are meant to exist within the dank darkness or wherever that not so pretty place is of which certain words are purposely created to dwell. It's also that state of conveyance that I find fascinating and truly artist inspired, along with the word meaning themselves. I think that there's a particular time a writer decides to "beautify" a write, essentially making it their own version of 'pretty' which might not necessarily jive with anyone else's idea of the same... and that is totally aok, imo. To each their own— always! It's the plethora of diversity and fresh approaches that I find myself seeking, constantly.    
   
Note: I have an unusually large flower addiction in IRL and on the page... Lol... and  written some pretty audacious floral imbued whoppers that I know are probably dripping of sweet girly girl 'pretty'... (yes, sometimes I just can't help myself!) ... I'm only human.... Lmao!! 😂 😂.... I tease but it's totally true! ...Hee hee... I feel we all have those different sides we randomly share.    
Which I adore and relish so much....  
   
I find both light and dark forms of expression a complete draw and often find myself falling into poetic 'love' with a tragic gothic tearjerker only to turn around and have my breath catch at the loveliest penned romantic opus...And damn, I do love that feeling, so!!  
Ain't poetry grand!!

there really is nothing more painful...writing helps me quite a bit...

You're absolutely right, dearest Bren. I swear the beach has magical properties that allow a heart mind and soul to heal and rejuvenate, in record time. Maybe it's the salty air..... Lol... I find it such a natural comfort and intensity therapeutic.

I’m no longer aggravated to the point of implosion. Keeping it real is so righteous. Yes, I do feel lucky to have the Gulf as close as I do or even the ocean, which isn't that far of a drive. That natural healing... those feelings of ease and harmony.... leaving it all behind for a while, letting the wind, water and sand transport me.... Sometimes, there's no better therapy. I just can't forget to bring the sunscreen... Ha!
