Kill or cure?
The innocuous-looking, tiny white pills
come with warnings attached
but I'm an old pro now.
Take eight per day for a week,
enjoy the sleep-deprived mania
oh, and the munchies of course,
then your asthma will get better,
Except that it hasn't, not fully—
I'm wheezy and weak,
Simultaneously,
the sleeplessness burns,
there's a general malaise
and my mood has decided
to go jump off a cliff.
Four days ago, I'd have done anything,
ANYTHING, to feel better,
but currently the 'cure'
is making me worse.
With three days to go,
I'm toughing it out...
for that which doesn't kill me
will make me stronger, right?

Yeah. I was on prednisolone four times in a year, and they freak out if it's more than once. I now have some emergency ones at home. Needs must.
