WONDERS OF THE WORLD
You were born
At the crossroads
Of old world knowledge
And new world pain
Justified in anger
At being a human
You watched and listened
Learned to make it work
Creating glistening love
From muddy roots and stems
And fertile minds
And endless longing

A cousin to a quail
You wove us all

Justified in anger
At being a human
You watched and listened
Learned to make it work
Creating glistening love
From muddy roots and stems
And fertile minds
And endless longing
You wove a child
To a tree
A cousin to a quail
You wove us all
To our wild relatives
The wonders
Of the world
We became
