Twilight (NaPoWriMo 2022 #2)
Twilight breathes
tantalising magic around;
that time
when light and dark
are intertwined, copulating
as one submits to the other,
and high rise buildings
as modern pyramids of stature
reflect light
to bask in the glow,
while sullen clouds
brood and darken,
their ancient malice
seep into tree branches
becoming shadowed
fingers in the dark,
despite street lights efforts
or the lightbulbs progressive glow,
shadows entice onlookers
promising hidden paths
onwards in the darkness
once you step into approaching slumber
and relinquish the past day.

Author's Note
Entry 2 for NaPoWriMo 2022. A somewhat cop-out poem based on what I could see out the window at the time. However, I think it is an okay poem; at least it springs from inspiration and not just necessity!

Wow. Such an engaging description of light and dark, and everything in between. You found so many different ways to illustrate the shades of light, which is (oddly) something I feel I can take and apply to my music-making. Thanks.

I was fortunate enough to be able to watch the fading light from my window while at the computer screen; nothing better than inspiration and somewhere to write it down!
