My Birthday Boy

It’s your birthday my angel, you’re finally turning one!
I’m the luckiest mother in the world to have you as my son.
Your smile brighter than any star, a radiant photon to say the least.
And your laugh, how divine it is, have I ever felt so at peace?
When I made that last push, out of my matrix you came.
Feelings of joy, content, and pride as I glorified God’s name!
Ten fingers and ten toes; is that and extra pinky? No you’re fine (:
I cradled your small swaddled body in my arms whispering “I love you, for you are mine.”
Eleven months have come and gone, one more week to get out of the way.
Gotta make sure you have on your birthday green, for it will always fall on St. Patrick’s Day.
I’ll give you everything I have; I’ll sacrifice so that you stay fed.
We’ll take trips to Africa, India, and Peru… as long as were back in time for bed.
And when I’ve bathed you and brushed your six teeth, sang the La La Lullaby song
You’ll be in my arms fast asleep and I’ll whisper “Happy Birthday my little angle, you're finally one.”
