Soaking In the Day
They say that all the best things in life
Live on the other side of fear.
So, it’s time to brush off the dust of the day
And shake off the worries,
Say, “Yes” to adventure just to be free,
To run down a lonesome beach
Hands in the air yelling and screaming
With joy or just because the way we did
When we were kids.
Soaking in the day and the luxury
Of personal space.
Perfect rest, extravagant freedom.
The sun unrivaled
Talking to the water
The waves swell with pride
Beyond the beaches.
The waves reincarnation
Rollers and breakers,
The past predicting the present
In all of its shades of blue.
- But I’m still inside
Suffering winter with my imagination
Full of an array of spectacular experiences
Taking to the sea in private boats,
Whale watching and swimming with sharks
As dangerous as I want to be,
Dancing with the locals around a campfire
On the beach at sunset,
Crushed red pepper is the low-lit sky.
And the sea islands turning dark.
I smile staring out the winter window
In my mind I’m soaking in the day.
Live on the other side of fear.
So, it’s time to brush off the dust of the day
And shake off the worries,
Say, “Yes” to adventure just to be free,
To run down a lonesome beach
Hands in the air yelling and screaming
