DEAD END ALLEY BLIND (1983; my Temple Hills Drive apt., Laguna Beach, California)
years click away
down wet street days
in my mind
as calendar numbers
tear away
dead end alley blind
age is a cage
you can turn the page
count each year and day
up until the day you die
or choose to transcend
said time
by living in the now
focused more
on the journey
rather than
the destination alone
you can live in grace
or live and yet
not ever find
life in each constant
free instant
you can get up
and walk away
fully awake and alive
in each moment
or you can choose
to continue
to meander on forever
dead end alley blind
