The Death of Memories
The cancerous loss
of death
eating away
destroying
in agonizing slowness
the memories
past
and future
leaving only the emptiness of now
a non existence
dead
and lifeless
choking on the ashes
of angry words
and loving plans
her memories
are now my memories
I weigh their worth
to gift
or sell
or to throw away
parts of her
that are now part of me
the cancer spreading
from her body
to my life
the pain is too much
to cut out each memory
like cancer
destroying everything
until there is nothing left
but eternal sadness
of death
eating away
destroying
in agonizing slowness
the memories
past
and future
leaving only the emptiness of now
a non existence
dead
and lifeless
choking on the ashes
of angry words
and loving plans
her memories
are now my memories
I weigh their worth
to gift
or sell
or to throw away
parts of her
that are now part of me
the cancer spreading
from her body
to my life
the pain is too much
to cut out each memory
like cancer
destroying everything
until there is nothing left
but eternal sadness
