Raphium Series~Glow

 
drained of my energy I reach up and out connecting with the aether
the air has always been my friend
the wind carries me skyward until I touch the atmosphere
then I reach outer space
where I contemplate the mortal coil that tethers me to the Earth

it's then I wonder how did I get here?
my soul wanders the celestial questioning the immortals
do you know me?
am I yours or did you kidnap me from some alien nursery?

a child of dread feasting off energies
in the dark I'm home
past the starlight and planets there is quiet
I connect with the black holes and travel
deep into the vast unknown

waiting for me is my origins, my home
a quiet observer who signed on for the full human experience
I've tasted tears but never sadness
I want to know death intimately

I've watched from afar as our species feasts off feelings with a cold detachment
human pain after all is to be cultivated
and harvested when pregnant with visions

some day the humans will see us
dispatched to glow elsewhere
there is the elite and the commonplace
a tyranny track all the way to the top

I feel there is a deep beauty here
and perhaps a primal magic that should not be disturbed
the keepers flex and withdraw

I am no vampire
I refuse sustenance today
so I glow bright then blink out
