Troubled.

She was emotionally banged up
One semblance of a boyfriend too many
She was always careful
Took her time to choose
But in the end, the same result
Dumped.
She was dead inside
But still in such need of warmth
And proximity
No bar this time, the bookstore.
Curiosity.
She picked up a book, picked up a guy
After a date or two
Just gave of herself, freely,
Gave it away, expecting nothing
But physical relief.
Yet the fellow proved himself
To be entirely just too nice.
Much too nice.
She started to miss
The brutality.
