Only Flesh

That empty 'husk' that remains is a conundrum to viewers/potential former loved ones who are on the outside looking in , as a possible reminder of another time— what that shell represented once upon; that is now so incredibly hard to let go of (because, hey, it looks the same!) ... Seeing it, doesn't equivalate the sheer emptiness of what is actually inside..... that there is nothing left.

Wrapping one's head around demise is brutal, yet necessary for us all.
(just my thoughts that popped, when reading your rad poem)

It's a tragic thing to try to make something that's no longer there. Been there on both sides of the spectrum. Not pleasant for either parties.

I can think of absent mindedness, the person no longer vested in that relationship, just body, no soul.

Hello Nikki,
After reading some of your work, I feel as if I know you. I knew a woman who would behave in the same way as you mentioned.
"I come to spend my evening,
I have my vodka with cranberry juice,
I enjoyed my evening with you."
She goes home and called me.
"I showered, I smoked,
I am in bed. You are with me."

It forced me to think what she was trying to convey.
