Question: is this a form poem?
With decreasing words per line?
Hmmm...
The commenters before me seem to understand it, in a way better than I do.
I think the meaning is that when a person drinks, or uses drugs, or engages in any kind of sensation-seeking behavior (gambling, risky sex, etc., etc.), that what's in the glass is trauma.
I'm kind of overlaying this on myself: when I was drinking, using drugs, etc., I was drinking the trauma.
I never thought of it that way.
Hmm.
Interesting.
Enjoy the rhythm, straight trochees.
Night and day--that's heavy use.
Provoked thought.
Enjoyed!

Not a form poem that I followed, but you kind of seem to have what I am wanting to say here. It's my therapist side coming out here in my work, most often people aren't just more of the 'addict' type, they are running away from something they just can't face yet. If we focus on the 'behaviour' only, or the addiction, we really are missing the actual issue.
Thank you for sharing a bit of your personal journey, hope you faced what you needed to face in time and space that worked for you. 💜
