Strawberry lemonade

Little brother you're fourteen
Not a child and barely a teen
Tightening your grip on things you know
Trying to hide the emotions you still show
I know growing up can be so scary
Never met someone who so loved anything strawberry
Oh little brother, its easy to love you
Even when you proclaim so loudly that you're too blue
How you're feeling dead inside
Yes, I see all the things you hide
You're too much like me when I was your age
Though I may come off too much like a sage
I was painted by the same hand of destiny
All I want to do is prevent you from being like me
Here I am with my porcelain perfected mask
Gold filling each and every crack... This endless task
Of hiding and knowing who you are, what we are
It's the learning and it's the absorbing that gets us far
I'm trying to show you the path I've found
The one that will lead you to sacred ground
Where the strawberries and lemons grow
I can only tell you, live this life as an example or show
We are so different but we have both been fourteen
Not at all a child, but barely a teen
I'm just twenty five, barely alive today
But how I know the future is still coming my way
I've always been lemonade; sour or sweet
Depends on which side of me folks meet
You're strawberry lemonade; sour or sweet
Depends on which side of you folks meet

Author's Note
It always freaks me out how similar my brother is to me. Its interesting to learn who he is on his own outside our shared trauma.
Anyway here's a cheesy poem about siblings being similar.
