2001: A Verse Oddity
I can still remember it like it was yesterday
Thirty-one years ago I started on this odd odyssey
Two thousand one poems later I feel I’m far away
Vying as if trying to fulfill some prophecy
Some years I wasn’t active or very appealing
But I would try and write with candor and honesty
Sometimes my pen wasn’t effective or revealing
Just as long as my poems were striving for modesty
In Wally’s chronology I found a certain commodity
Jumping in and out rhymes at times off of a prosody
Then there were some verses that felt like phonetic monstrosities
Wrapped in a melody passing as a dreamy rhapsody
Honestly, this journey has been a curious chronicle
Expressing thoughts and feelings amidst a cacophony
The voices range from pensive to happy and comical
But I'm glad in the underground I found comradery
