mercy

a garland cinquain

mercy:
human kindness
is a mark of valour;
let its mirror swell your noble
passion.

passion
for the spirit
dispossessed and lonely
makes the world a habitable
shelter.

shelter
for the homeless,
battered by his darkness,
makes your heart an unencumbered
lighthouse—

lighthouse,
where the rolling
waters stark the edges,
for death ravenously clued-up.
hapless,

hapless
are they, naked,
trolled by wind and weather:
send your beams of hope as beams of
mercy!

mercy:
for the spirit
battered by his darkness,
for death ravenously clued-up.
mercy!
