Image for the poem gently flows the river

gently flows the river

a garland cinquain

gently
through the rushes,
from its cradle creeping,
comes a cool and sparkling fountain
singing.

singing,
flows the river,
where the children gather
from her bosom perch and mullets,
wide-eyed.

wide-eyed
sun, descending
to its evening ocean,
paints the skies with hints of golden
colours.

colours
of the rainbow
melt into the ocean,
where from mountain toil its rest comes
sweetly.

sweetly,
on the seashore,
lullabies in seashells
fill my music-starved ears e’er so
gently.

gently
flows the river
to its evening ocean,
where from mountain toil its rest comes
gently.
