the wisdom of deep roots
there is a tree outside
my office window
I watch it marking the
seasons
it's birth in the spring
its life in the summer
it dying in the fall
its afterlife in the winter
that old tree...
it has survived
storms, wind
and snow
that old tree...
we have an understanding
him and I
I notice his strength, age
and beauty
and quietly admire it's
near eternity
and in the perpetuity that
comes and
go
I hear it's leaves rustling
in a faint breeze
whispering wordless
words more profound
than any uttered
by any
man
wisdom knows
no
boundaries

Dear BK,
This is just the serenity needed at the moment. How very timely. Funny too, I’ve been giving way to passing along all my ills to the trees and winds as of late. Some days I wish I could hear their responses better but it’s wonderful knowing they hear me. Beautiful write. H🌷

Re. the wisdom of deep roots
I have a tree that I share a bond with too.... I swear I think I've sincerely shared more secrets with that tree than most of my closest friends... No kidding. I take these walks and it's on the path I hate the most because it's 'uphill'.. which in Florida is laughable and probably more like a speed bump anywhere else (except for Kansas maybe... lol) We're flat! Yet, this hill is definitely something you feel in your body when walking up it, especially the third, fourth, or fifth times. I purposely include it in my walk to get more exercise but I still loathe that path because of that difficulty ... lol... Anyway , I started talking to the tree, initially so I could make it up the hill....then it became a pseudo confessional not far after. It's beautiful when it blooms but it's also dark and twisted like something out of a Tim Burton movie... Ohh Yes, it's perfect , in my eyes. I have really enjoyed our relationship.... lol
This write was phenomenal - I connected massively.... and relate completely.
Ty for sharing, bk.

Love trees as well... I like the way this piece develops in a pristine manner... Pauses... And continues forth, pristine. To a wonderful statement of wisdom and insight. Nicely done.

Thank the Goddess for trees, jemac. Our spirits are made fuller by their presence.
Thank you.

I lived 10 years just 500 metres from the sea, who was a great listener. Now I'm inland and cultivating a garden + quinta (small-holding) I talk to plants/flowers - we have a lot of cork-oaks and olive trees on our land - both evergreens - but the annual cycle of flowering I find comforting. Nice that you have a special tree so close. Loved the poem.

BK, this was completely awesome and full of wisdom. Trees are living things, they live longer than us so I can't begin to imagine they things they've seen, the lives they've lived.
Brilliant write.
