A quiet drink with friends
The hard case poet
playing pool,
pairs transgender
with bender
and forces his rhyme.
Its not the first time
the critique has had him
in handcuffs.
The trial continues
long after a conviction
of community disservice.
His muse hears footsteps
after dark,
walks the long way home
to avoid the park;
hates the small scar
just below the cheek,
takes another lifetime
before she could speak
about it to anyone.

Your writing is always so very potent and impactful. I try and read as much as I can (even if I'm too tongue tied to comment) because I feel like I learn so much just by 'osmosis'... lol... :)
