THOUGHTS ABOUT POETRY WRITING

SELF-DISCOVERY

I do not
write poetry,
poetry writes me.
I do not have to
search for words,
words find me;
I freely and openly
sin against syntax.
I never know
the ending, the
ending is a surprise.
There is never
a disappointment
because my ever-present
Muse knows best.
I do not write
because I have to,
I write because
it is in my DNA.
I am not concerned
about critics;
I am my best critic.
I do not have
a special time to write;
my subconscious is
my timekeeper.
Whether anyone likes
or dislikes my poetry
is not my motivation.
No subject is
off-limits, as I'm
always stretching
my boundaries.
My thoughts about
writing poetry are personal
and not academic
or society approved.
