Pain is pain
You'd expect someone born in a thunderstorm
To understand the rain
You'd expect someone born in darkness
To see through the dark
But pain is pain
No matter how long
It hurts the same.
You'd expect someone born in poverty
To understand hunger
To know the struggle
To comprehend
Learn to hide the shame
Learn to make life out of the least
And maybe to accept that its fate
But pain is pain
Even the impoverished seek change
But what is change
When a monkeys paw gives back little than it takes
When we keep all that's best to oneself
Even when with all that, we still want more
You'd expect the wise to be wiser
You'd expect age to come with grace
But pain is pain
True understanding can only be achieved when the other side comes to comprehend the other's pain
To understand the rain
You'd expect someone born in darkness
To see through the dark
But pain is pain
No matter how long
It hurts the same.
You'd expect someone born in poverty
To understand hunger
To know the struggle
To comprehend
Learn to hide the shame
Learn to make life out of the least
And maybe to accept that its fate
But pain is pain
Even the impoverished seek change
But what is change
When a monkeys paw gives back little than it takes
When we keep all that's best to oneself
Even when with all that, we still want more
You'd expect the wise to be wiser
You'd expect age to come with grace
But pain is pain
True understanding can only be achieved when the other side comes to comprehend the other's pain
