Living in the Moment
Living in the moment
Is nice and not so easy.
As our past determines
Our present.
Our present determines
Our future.
Past, present, future
Intricately woven
Into every fiber
Of the moment.
Is nice and not so easy.
As our past determines
Our present.
Our present determines
Our future.
Past, present, future
Intricately woven
Into every fiber
Of the moment.

Thank you kindly javelini for reading and commenting. It seems people say, live in the moment, well ok, but each moment is based on all that is behind and is part of what is ahead, thus the essence of this poem.
Re. Living in the Moment
In reading the poem and the comments/response, I believe what is meant by 'Live in the Moment" is noticing what is around you in that moment; not thinking back to 'when' or ahead to 'what if/only'. This moment 'Atoms' by Ana Olgica is playing on spotify; I am replying to your post; a black candle is lit on my desk; I smell the scent of frankincense incense, birds are chirping outside; there is traffic going by.
And there you have it. One moment in the moment. Now I am . . . and so forth. It takes focus and discipline to defeat the dragon of distraction.
Nice contemplative write.

Thank you for the read and the clarification. However, it is the past that finds us at our desk with the candle lit in any one moment in the present.
I am not well read and run mainly on my own instinct of divining. So I do appreciate your input. It will forever be part of me.

I understand what you're saying, yes; the past brought us here to this moment; and it is this moment which will lead us to the next; however, 'Being in the Moment' doesn't mean thinking of what brought us here or what will lead us there. It simply means noticing whatever is around you: what you hear, what you see, what you're actually doing in this moment.
It is very difficult to master; much easier said.

Again thank you for caring enough to clarify its meaning for me. I don't recall in my poem that I said anything about pondering. I was simply pointing out a truth.
I enjoy, just sitting a really thinking on nothing in particular, just enjoying a cool summer breeze as it passes through my crown of white, the goosebumps while it passes through, the smell of patchouli oil as it passes me in the store. It is distinct and few few wear it. Yes, I do get. Again thank you.

Favourite lines:
Past, present, future [this trio conjures up in mind paintings of The Three Graces]
Intricately woven
Into every fiber
Of the moment.

I like the tightness of this little poem. Great observation, especially for those of us who’ve been around the block a time or two. Ty.
