Upon Final Farewell
Will you remember how I danced?
when my legs ~
these batons of my body’s song,
minstrels of melodic mobility ~
rescind their perfected pirouette
and become finally slack
...Will you remember?
Will you remember how I created?
when my hands ~
these transcribers of my transition,
conductors of synesthetic symphony ~
abandon their accountability
and become finally still
...Will you remember?
Will you remember how I loved?
when my heart ~
this broken vessel of my veneration,
reliquary of endless endearments ~
releases it’s consummate rhapsody
and becomes finally silent
...Will you remember?

minstrels of melodic mobility ~
rescind their perfected pirouette
and become finally slack
...Will you remember?

Love this poem -- reminded me of our 'fridge-sticker' ... "Dance as though no-one is watching you. Love as though you have never been hurt before. Sing as though no-one can hear you. Live as though heaven is on earth" (Souza)

I have a similar magnet on my fridge as well! Thank you so much for reading, and for the RL, Josh.

This is so beautifully written. I can't say for certain, but I image that most humans have these thoughts about how they will be remembered when they die. At some point, all memory of existence will cease as there will come a time when no one alive will have ever known us. It's an interesting theme, death. You have explored it well.

It’s not a subject I’ve really ever explored before, but since my MS diagnosis, I’ll admit it’s on my mind more often these days. Thank you so much for reading and for your support, Eerie.

I can't imagine how anyone could forget.
This piece is powerful. Saddened. But a good ode for what so many take for granted. I don't see how anyone could read this and not feel appreciative.

Dear L,
Oh! My heart. What a mind blower this piece. A subject I think about more and more each passing year. Your profound write is a stunning reflection of how and what we leave behind. What an eloquent piece. I’m left without words at how I’d like to fully respond but gorgeous poem is at the forefront of my mind. H🌷

"conductors of synesthetic symphony" is an excellent line expressing how beautiful it is.
This verse serves as a reminder to appreciate that we have, to really engage in the bond in the now. It's also somewhat cryptic, like a warning, a loving and stern warning.
Bravo.
