To Old To Be Happy

Get this! I'm told I'm to old for love?
That happiness for me passed long ago
Oooft! That's a little unkind I'd say
They dont know me so how would they know?
Happiness is an ageless emotion
It's one that comes and goes I agree
But dont for a moment think I'm no longer worthy
Of the happiness that's been set aside for me.

To old, haha and I'm only 54
Is happiness exclusively for the youths?
I think sometimes they just talk from the top of their heads,
It's high time they were told some home truths...
Anyway, rant over, I just though oh my!
God help me when I'm in my 70's
When your older your not entitled to a life?
No fun allowed, and NO parties...!

54 and that's a wrap?
So what am I supposed to do now?
Put on my slippers, hot chocolate then bed?
I bloody dont think so somehow!
Funny how the youngsters see us ain't it?
Were we like them at their age?
I guess we were, yeah I'd absolutely think so
Young, brave and full of courage...

Well one day they will realise 54 isn't old
And 54, 64, 74 still need happiness
It's not a game any more this life we have
But when we were 17 it sure was...
Bless them, they mean no harm
At least they weren't intentionally rude
Just made me feel old and yet I'm not?
And now I'm in a melancholic mood!

Haha!
