A Good Poem

Some poets write as a hobby or for fun
Others write for money and fame
People can write whatever they want,
But a good poem is not mumbo jumbo
Good poets do not write nonsense,
Such as, “The cow jumps over the moon”
They write realistic and uplifting things

A good poem edifies unlettered persons
A good poem documents real events
A good poem inspires readers and writers
A good poem explains one’s beliefs
A good poem recounts true experiences
A good poem makes wise suggestions
A good poem imparts useful information

There is a clear message in a good poem
It does not cause misinterpretations
A poem of obscurity teaches nothing
The writings of today will make history,
So do not censor the facts in poetry
People view poetry in different ways,
But every poet has a moral responsibility
