My Body

Young and athletic
Built and toned
Years of hard work
But at some point I became
The husband and the dad
Moved up to management
Relegated to a desk job and
Sitting on the couch
Then middle age sat in
Now, upon occasion,
I still look at myself
In a mirror and remember
My glory days
I give myself a wink and
Say, "You've still got
The body of a god,
Unfortunately it's Buddha."
Might as well make the best of it,
There's a ball game on T.V.
and cookies in the kitchen
