There's so much learning to do
Go to school
Learn the rules
Have to try to grow up fast
Cap and gown
Face the crowd
Success story at last
Get a job
Earn a lot
Don't stop to take a rest

Blow your lid
Just know you did your very best
Then grow old
House gets sold
Hello, retirement home and friends
When you die
You say bye
But the cycle doesn't end
You have gone
But passed on
A legacy that lives again

A little ditty, perhaps? Either way, a poem meant to reflect, whether inspiring or defeating depends on your look on your own life, I would imagine. Hope you enjoyed!

Kind of depressing in a way as not very meaningful on a self or personal level..........
birth then in a mouse race preparing to thrive in a rat race then death.
i suppose the legacy we leave behind is how much impact we had on others
and did we influence their futures / lives.
Loved the terse rhyming to this thinking spill

Thank you for the review and your thoughts. :) It's always nice knowing what people think after a poem and what their takeaway was, both good and bad.
You mentioned depressing, and I think my mood when writing this wasn't quite that low, but probably hovered somewhere between frustrated and merely contemplative. As I recall, it was one of those 'what IS the purpose of life?' moments where I tried just sitting down and looking at my life and, instead of being a tree in the forest, I tried putting myself in the 'shoes' of the cloud looking down at the forest...what is the purpose of an individual tree? What is the purpose of the forest? Is there one? And does it even matter if there is or isn't a purpose?....Should it only matter that the forest exists and that each tree in it is different, each tree contributes?...

This poem has no creativity to it sadly nothing to challenge the reader to ingest hopefully you'll try a different method of articulating your poetry 😭
