You & I Looking Eye 2 Eye
Dreamt you and I were looking eye 2 eye
I can't lie; it made me arise and want to cry
Cause all I could see was sixty years of pain
The windows to your soul showed lots of rain
The forecast has changed cause you're now deceased
I hope that you've found your much needed peace
There wasn't peace 'tween us before you died
A tumultuous 'ship that dipped like a coaster ride
I still haven't cried over the loss of you
The hurt that you caused is not through
I guess I forgive you but still feel disdain
Now I gotta continue to live with my pain
Maybe you weren't as sane as you appeared to be
Yet, everything was cool as long as you were controlling me
You had to have foreseen my rising growth as a man
And a man understands that he must take a stand
He must DEMAND and COMMAND that he be respected
You perceived it as disrespect and felt neglected
I couldn't deal with it any longer and had to make a choice
Ties had to be severed in order to use my voice
