I Saw You

I saw you
6 I the morning
Just rolled out of a club,
a little worse for wear and
ready to face the dawn
I stand at the bus stop,
Not really waiting, you know
Just gazing
at the ground beneath my feet
 Lost in thought
Then I hear a hiss
I lookup
The doors open right in front of me
 Leading me to a moment
I had played in my mind many times over
 until I knew exactly
what I would do and say

 And I saw you
Standing there frozen in time
Our eyes lock
Like two stags in the fog at dawn
Now it’s me who has frozen
I read what your eyes say
And I know you recognise me
Though I'm older
We both know what you did
 You didn’t expect this
You’re caught off guard
And I’m not a kid you can threaten anymore
But I can’t see anything in those
Empty Diseased spheres
Two bottomless holes of rotting spirit
And you shift your gaze
Like nothing happened

I saw you
 In a second
My mind races a thousand miles
And as you turn and walk away
 I’m shaking
 Cursing myself for not breaking
 Your kneck like  id
 Rehearsed so many times before
 My heart is racing
 the moment has finally come
 Your days are numbered
And I follow you for a while
See you duck into a doorway
Hiding behind boxes in an alleyway
I watch you walk into a place
That's easy to find again

I saw you
They’ll have no problem finding you and
It will feel good when
You are wiped from this world like the
The pestilence that you have become
What you left me with
Maybe if I take away a little of what you took from me,
I can be whole again
I Can find peace
Maybe she would still be here
But a stinging realisation washes over me
Almost as soon as I formulate the thought
There's nothing I can do
Or you can say
That can change the past
Wipe this memory from my mind
When I think of that day
I saw you
