conscious gardening ( tanka )
a hundred poems sprout
from the garden of my head
thousands from my heart
which field I should harvest first
remains unresolved tonight

Why should you have to choose? Those from the heart write themselves and those from the head emerge unfinished when you need something to exercise your creative muscles. When its time for one, it's not time for the other and vice versa. Rejoice in that you have either rather than none at all ( which seems to be the case for me lately ).

Dear A,
Me too! Mine, however, lack in the same abundance. I think I have one or two from the heart and possibly five from the head. But I totally feel your struggle. 😊
Love the truth of it all. H🌷

Thank you, Honoria!
I am in transition, and whenever that happens things get muddled! Huzzah for poetry, however!
Hopefull the New Year and fresh energy will also bring many positive changes both to us personally and the world as a collective.
Much love! xo

The Author’s Note made me chuckle. This is an amusing evocation of the creative process.

Abundance. Those yields we get from our thoughts/minds takes some time to ripen while those from the heart may have deeper roots. Either, picked too soon in our impatience may be bitter, yet the full sweetness of maturity we savor, but may spoil if left too long. Both can be rich in fruition depending on our season. I am now pondering mine.

Yes! Abundance to me isn't monetary, but spiritual blessings such as peace, love, etc.
There's a verse in the bible I like to recall whenever I begin to feel impatient:
Daughters of Israel, wake not love before it's time lest it wither on the vine. ( paraphrased )
I apply this to all aspects in my life in regards to patience.
Thanks, TIG

I write some of the best stuff...in my head...while driving. It’s gone by the time I can write it down.
When I’m sitting down, serious about writing something, it’s typically from the heart.
Maybe that’s why my brain pieces don’t stick? Hmm.
Love this little slice of tanka.

I am right with you on the driving, Eerie. I think it's because driving puts me in a meditative state. I have pulled over and used the back of gum wrapper to write down a thought; though I have composed an entire poem in my head that I could never get down when stopped.
At least I captured the essence!

Can't wait to see which ones you pick first as I'm sure your garden has a great variety.
Excellent work.

I totally know the feeling, I have so many ideas for things to write that it's all I can do to scrawl them on paper before they disappear. I did experience a bit of a block during the last year with its chaos, but I am getting past it. I have even more ideas now. Happy writing in 2021 📋

The energy this year, particuarly right now moving into the Age of Aquarius can feel very challenging and even combative right now. Whenever it happens I become a sponge and absorb, understanding there is a season for all things: writing, and learning respectively.
Thank you always for your support! Onward toward 2021! ❤

I think the cusp of the age of Aquarius began in 1964, and it is ending around now, so that makes sense that similar combative events are playing out. The earth is also entering the photon belt which is full of space debris. Maybe things will settle down when the cusp ends and we are fully in Aquarius, I hope so. All that learning will pay off..
