Into the Void
Raindrops outside my window
bring me a melancholy as I drift to sleep
I want to dream the dreams I once dreamt
the ones that never came to fruition
but just faintly escaped
My heart lingers in the memory
of things forgotten by time and distance
traveling in the inner space of my mind
like ghosts reaching for the light
left alone in the dark
I long to face the emptiness
unable to feel fear as I delve and dive
into the void
only to be cradled by that lovely voice
guiding me through
There is a fire still lingering
somewhere inside me
burning softly amidst chords
yearning intensely between words
holding me
as I fall into this realm

Hi Blue, thank you for your wonderful comment. I've always loved the sound of rain. I'm lucky enough to have a writing desk by my bedroom window and I've enjoyed many days and nights listening to rain and being able to write.
But this song was the perfect setting to remind me of that and have my own interpretation.

This made me think of how when you feel yourself falling into a void, something kicks in and somehow holds you up, I've felt that. It can be tough to tell if its the power of the mind, or something else. This is a great entry in the comp, I wish I'd had time to enter it, I love writing to music :)

Crazy to think all of our memories and dreams are trapped somewhere in our brains. If only we could File, Export to see them one more time, or perhaps, never again, depending on how we've changed. Great read

Yes, I've always loved the thought that everything is stored and music can access it. It's a never ending nostalgia that lingers in our hearts from time to time when these old songs (or a certain stimuli) trigger the memory.
