Diffidence
I speak in subtle riddles,
and muddle down the meaning;
deluded, I dilute it
to hide my deepest feelings.
In cowardice, I'm powerless,
bound beneath this magic spell;
idling on the hourglass—
drowning in my wishing well.
Stuck sitting at a red light, redlined,
like a deer caught in the headlights.
I’m an overeager underachiever—
who just can’t get his head right.
But beneath this cowardly lion man,
is a diamond-studded dream weaver,
with a heart filled up with gold
and the soul of a believer.
I still can’t help but to ask myself,
of all the fish in the sea;
with an entire ocean before her,
how could she ever pick me?
and muddle down the meaning;
deluded, I dilute it
to hide my deepest feelings.
In cowardice, I'm powerless,
bound beneath this magic spell;
idling on the hourglass—
drowning in my wishing well.
Stuck sitting at a red light, redlined,
