New Revelation
An Angel descended to the earth
And blew his trumpet
And he called to judgment all the living
And all those who lay in the tomb
But it was already to late
And every sinner was fast asleep
And the trumpet voice was in vain
And only one rose up
Over a world that has fallen asleep
He rises in the shadow, an ominous
evil raised from the pits of hell
A formidable idol with an animal grin
The new Revelation
His empty eye sockets are watching
behind our dreams
Raising blood-washed palms
His priests conduct their rituals,
their cruel ceremonies and processions,
preparing new innocent victims
For the sake of a terrible Demon
exiled from hell
I hear the fierce rumble of drums
And the hum of ritual singing
Flames rise to the stars
above the stars - mountains of black ash
His crimson arms reach out
to us over the abyss
Trying to forget about yesterday's losses
we create, grow, build and believe
But no peace comes to a forsaken land
and he does not sleep for a second
He is always on the alert,
bloody and ruthless
The one Hell exiled
Prophesies broken
- I now see
The new Revelation
- is ME
And blew his trumpet
And he called to judgment all the living
And all those who lay in the tomb
But it was already to late
And every sinner was fast asleep
And the trumpet voice was in vain
And only one rose up
Over a world that has fallen asleep
He rises in the shadow, an ominous
evil raised from the pits of hell
A formidable idol with an animal grin
The new Revelation
His empty eye sockets are watching

I just love the existential quality of this philosophical and spiritual poem Kristina...and then that all-empowering...ME. In Zen practice there is a word...jiriki - "power of the self".

Maybe I belong in the shroudside and I do like puns. ;) Although I might argue the poet part but I like your take anyway. Thank you for the amazing feedback. I really appreciate that you see development, that is very encouraging. Thank you so much for the comment. 💖

This is super tight Boo, you did them a great service. You just can't beat love and darkness blended in just the right order. Tight

Re. New Revelation
Sooooo!😉 This, your poem, evokes thoughts of Dantes Inferno, Goya's "The Colossus" and "Saturn Devouring His Son."

https://www.wikiart.org/en/Search/Saturn%20devouring%20his%20son
This passage is so relevant to today,
"Over a world that has fallen asleep
He rises in the shadow, an ominous"
Unless we stay vigilant and kind we will be lulled to sleep by evil.
And "ME" is profound and evokes thoughts of Taoist philosophy that we are the genesis of change for evil or good.
Oh and it's hella scary this poem of yours.🤠

Dear K,
Ooooohhhhhh this one is intense. I was transported back to church school and all the nuns warning us of all the evils in the world. I think this write is a terrific venture into the dark side of a spiritual life. The devil is always lurking and waiting to pounce and the angels always seem to be ignored unless you’re in peril. To me anyway, that’s what it feels like. That must be my Catholic getting in the way. 😇. I’m so enthralled at your ability to write so many different styles and excel at all of them! Well done. H🌷
