Like My Daddy Did
Pour my gravy over my eggs like my Daddy did
As long as I got biscuits to sop them up with
Memories of my Dad pop up now and then
Never know why, never know when
Every once in awhile, I'll make a sheepish grin
And I'll laugh to myself that I'm turning into him
Visions of my Dad pop up now and then
Never know why, never know when
Chorus:
My Daddy was a good man
But he wasn't perfect in any way
Sometimes I'd get so mad at him
I'd have trouble thinking straight
Still being reminded of a good man
In traits I find in me
Isn't a terrible thing
And it brings back memories
Like someone saying something that reminds me of a song
Luckily the people around me like to sing along
Memories of my Dad pop up now and then
Never know why, never know when
Like reading every billboard and highway sign
Like I'm worried about leaving something behind
Visions of my Dad pop up now and then
Never know why, never know when
Chorus
Still doing things like my dear ole Daddy did
As long as I got biscuits to sop them up with
Memories of my Dad pop up now and then
Never know why, never know when
Every once in awhile, I'll make a sheepish grin
And I'll laugh to myself that I'm turning into him
Visions of my Dad pop up now and then
Never know why, never know when
Chorus:
My Daddy was a good man
But he wasn't perfect in any way
Sometimes I'd get so mad at him
I'd have trouble thinking straight
Still being reminded of a good man
In traits I find in me
Isn't a terrible thing
And it brings back memories
Like someone saying something that reminds me of a song
Luckily the people around me like to sing along
Memories of my Dad pop up now and then
Never know why, never know when
Like reading every billboard and highway sign
Like I'm worried about leaving something behind
Visions of my Dad pop up now and then
Never know why, never know when
Chorus
Still doing things like my dear ole Daddy did
