Who knows if the streets are safe anymore. But I believe you have to risk to get the biscuit. Be yourself does matter what others think. Keep on writing.

Good idea of shopping online to avoid risky streets. (Though that might have been the source of the dress one was being judged for.)

It is a sad state of affairs that anyone cannot wear anything with being judged or ridiculed on the street by people who have no right to talk.
No where's truly safe now and its true long gone are the knights in shinning armour to protect the fair maiden.
Its a shame the world was a better place when people gave a shit about others.
On a side note i bet you look great in a short skirt lol sorry thats the bad me
Love and light

It's from real life - not me but a student in a neighbouring provincial city - she got pinned down, hit and hurt in the street by two guys who called her "pute en jupe" and no one did anything, even though there were about fifteen plus people around. Misogyny is alive and well across France.

This article in your author's note is infuriating.
Your write, highlighting it, is a job well done.
You're 100% right that men need to realize to keep their hands and horrible insult to themselves. Can you imagine if the situation was reversed and women did that to men ??
Insulting their manhood??
Puhleeeease.
Men would be INSANE with outrage.
Terrific write.
Thank you for bringing this to more light!
You're awesome.

I read another article in a regional paper about a male waiter asking a woman customer if she had anything under her dress in Bordeaux. She threw a glass of cold water over him and he threatened her with boiling water. She got thrown out of the café!!!

'Misogyny is alive in France' - what happened to 'the world's greatest lovers'? I read this after hearing this morning's news that in Uk misogyny is to be added to what are treated as hate crimes.

Re. City Streets
Yes, the streets aren't always friendly to women or men. Once I was jogging down a street at a college I attended. A group of young women cat -called me and whistled saying "hot legs." On hindsight, they were complimenting me. But at the time I ran a little faster. lol, But it is different for a man than a woman.

This reminded me of a time, late at night. It was me, a male friend, and a female one. We were leaving a restaurant and my male friend made a comment to a lady passing by. I to this day don’t know what he said but my female friend got livid. She had a long conversation with him later on.
