The Edge

When you're on the edge for too long,
it's easy to fall.
Balance failing,
strength waning,
you start swaying.
The only warning you have before you start to freefall.
Nothing to catch you,
nothing to save you.
Just endless air.
Stealing breath,
ground rushing toward you too fast.
And then,
crash.
The bottom.
At least now I'm off the ledge.
