This was a fun comp; I enjoyed reading about him. Too bad his original transcripts were lost. :(

I'm sure after a few cups of tea on a quiet morning, you could channel a bit of him into a poem or two. :)

Hahah! More than likely! I'd like to visit his province and see the tower and definitely his tea house!

The Japanese tea ceremony is a sacred ritual in Zen. The presentation and those drinking the matcha, powdered green tea, are considered pilgrims in seeking the light. You otta look as Bashō, or Issa considered the fathers of Haiku...🙏

I am very familiar with Basho and Issa, as I have studied Eastern Haiku ( the original form where sound not syllable applies ). I love Asian rituals and have always been so connected to them. The Pond was such a great place until Harry resigned as Director. He was a fabulous teacher here.

Dear A,
Your closing stanza brings tears of truth. I just have to close my eyes and think tea and its civilized properties and I can sometimes feel my anxiety about whatever dissipate. Very cool photo. He looks sated after his proper cuppa. Well, kettles on, stop in anytime. H🌷

I hear you, Honoria! Sometimes, the only way to tolerate myself is with a nice, steaming cup of tea! :D It's one of my favorite past times and I'm happy you picked up on that.
Would love to share a cuppa with you one day! xo

Very interesting! I myself love herbal tea and I drink it everyday for medicinal purposes as well as the taste.

Tea is a great habit to have daily, Faith. I will agree with that, particularly for its medicinal properties. Thank you and cheers! xo

The making of tea is a ritual. It is part of every Asian home. I enjoyed this Ahavati🌹.

Well I enjoy your rituals, Summer! I am very connected to the Asian way of life—it's minimal, simplistic way of life which contains so much depth.
Namaste, my friend. xo

One of my favorite reads...but alas...if I drink tea, even green tea, I am overcome with nausea...I think it might be the tannins...so I'm left to drink strong short black coffees. A beautiful tribute A.
Cheers...Harry

I hate to hear that, Harry. Surely there is some type of tea out there ( like wine ) without all the tannins? I feel the same way with wine if not a high quality or organic.
Thank you muchly, friend. You're very appreciated.

Funny A...I can knock down the wine lol. No tea..."Buddha's Tears" is probably the best for me...but only a cup or two.

I'm enriched; Never have I heard of Lů Yǔ
My late gran. Her house smelt like Earl Grey. The brewing of which reminds me of her.
A late friend taught me about Lemon Verbena. Now I carry a bush with me wherever I live. The leaves brewed act as a nerve tonic.
In Zanzibar, travelling alone. In Stonetown I felt homesick and as though I was catching a cold. At this thought I smelt Ginger & Honey tea. It was being sold in small porcelain cups on the side of the road for 300 shillings(About 0.1$). It is what my mum makes my sister and I whenever we get sick. It reminds me of my childhood and home(wherever we lived).
Thank you for sharing

Thank you, Duncan. I always enjoy Webmiss' comps because I typically learn something about something ( even myself ). Earl Grey with Bergamot is one of my favorite teas; both the smell and taste are comforting and reminders of cozy times in sunny rooms.
Lemon verbena also repels insects. It's amazing how multifaceted nature is in the ecosystem of herself. Ginger and honey is a staple around here whenever I feel tired and during the winter months, especially.
Thank you for sharing, Duncan. I enjoyed your knowledge!
