A Standing Ovation
Looking forward to hearing his voice once in a while.
Thinking of our conversations together makes me smile.
I've watched you for a long time comin,
Although I've pegged you a coward
For not following through on all this lovin.
Daydreams can't warm my bed at night.
They say out of mind when out of sight.
My heart won't allow me to believe any of that
Because at any moment you cross my mind
That is a fact.
I pull out my emotions from time to time,
I re-examine, re-organize, re-prioritize them
Because they're my DNA, all mine.
I question my judgment in wanting you
Because cat and mouse games are what you seem to do.
I think it's time for my heart to again be packed away.
Save it for someone else that will appreciate it.
Pull it out on a rainy day.
I'm yet seeking THAT mate to be my motivation,
When he shows up and proves he can relate to me
My heart will do back flips, somersaults...
