Drug Induced
Neglected child
abused and used
totally confused
they're supposed
to love her
what's wrong with her
that they don't
love her
nothing left to do
but grieve
need someone
wants only comforting
troubled teen
not so keen
Needs to
be clean
but never seen
thinks love is
just a dirty word
for her there's no
satisfaction in it
turned to crack
due to it's lack
lost her mind
can't get it back
abused and used

I never tried crack because I got clean way before crack. I understand that this drug is very powerful and really messes someone up. That's why I wrote this. BTW, I feel very blessed to have been able to stay clean and sober for almost 45 years.

It's one of the saddest things when people get addicted and can't become clean. So much potential is never fulfilled because of addiction. It's a simple poem, but it's still very expressive.

Thank you for reading and responding to my poem. My heart goes out to all who are struggling with addiction. The only good that ever comes of it is when a person wins the battle and gets clean. Some of them become productive people who have much to give to others.

Great insight with this ... lost a childhood friend to drugs ... recovering alcoholic myself ... so tragic all around ...
Thank you, dear Poetess! I'm so grateful crack wasn't around in my drinking days because I might very well have tried it as I did some other drugs. I didn't get addicted to them but I nearly destroyed my young life with alcohol. Like you, I am also recovering and thank my Higher Power every day for the second chance at life that I received!
