Shattered
My girl was there and pretended to care
As long as it looked good to others
But when things became tough
And the roads became rough
I seemed to become too much a bother
The drink and the drugs
Filled the void of a love
That no longer seemed to matter
Then piece by piece
Like broken glass at my feet
My life became incurably shattered
Shattered like a window
After innocent childhood play
Shattered like a puzzle
Thrown away in dismay
Shattered like a bottle
After each and every day
Shattered is my life
Since you have gone away
As long as it looked good to others
But when things became tough
And the roads became rough
I seemed to become too much a bother
The drink and the drugs
Filled the void of a love
That no longer seemed to matter
Then piece by piece
Like broken glass at my feet
My life became incurably shattered
Shattered like a window
After innocent childhood play
Shattered like a puzzle
Thrown away in dismay
Shattered like a bottle
After each and every day
Shattered is my life
Since you have gone away
