Medicate
I used to run through golden fields
And taste the air so sweet
Barefoot I'd trod thru leafy wood
And thru the sparkling stream
No thoughts, no cares of things to come
I lived my life so free
Unconscious of the serpent
Who lie in wait for me
And without warning he struck
His venomous fangs sank deep
And cursed me with a horrid need
To be in love with my disease
So now I have to medicate
To stave off my desire
Medicate
I'm building my own pyre
Medicate
I'm lonesome, not alone
Medicate
Waiting to go home
And in the end the serpents bite
Will kill off every cell
That carefree person I once was
Only memories will be left
And the ceaseless need to medicate
Will destroy my very self
And taste the air so sweet
Barefoot I'd trod thru leafy wood
And thru the sparkling stream
No thoughts, no cares of things to come
I lived my life so free
Unconscious of the serpent
Who lie in wait for me
And without warning he struck
His venomous fangs sank deep
And cursed me with a horrid need
To be in love with my disease
So now I have to medicate
To stave off my desire
Medicate
I'm building my own pyre
Medicate
I'm lonesome, not alone
Medicate
Waiting to go home
And in the end the serpents bite
Will kill off every cell
That carefree person I once was
Only memories will be left
And the ceaseless need to medicate
Will destroy my very self
