Number Six
Since my diagnosis
Epiphany moment of clarity
All the years
Of struggle
Feelings of not quite being
Had a foundation of meaning
An autism one stop shop
Place of sanctuary
The harbour of choice
When the world
The mind
Gets far too much too handle
Find it hard to connect
Even In a community of writers
Was encouraged to write
To express
Address my thoughts
At number six
The support network
Is the only reason I’m alive
My umbilical cord
That gave a little stability
Enough confidence
To scribble here

Wonderful, AP. A beautiful testament to DU and the influence it can have on writers.

I love this. It warms my heart. I’ve not experienced autism personally of course... but managed ISL’s for teenagers dealing with autism and in crisis because of a home life less than choice (to use euphemism, some were devastating circumstances and I’m
Angry to this day considering what they dealt with) a support system and avenue to connect was vital. I’m so glad you’ve found that in other writers.

As always, AP you are the bar that I set for myself.
Ohh so fucking talented, clever (yes, you are), bold, relentless, open, generous and more brave than most people can even fathom.
No arguments
it's all accurate.. *giggles
Ty for letting us in.
We're all better for it
